The question of “What makes a stadium successful?” is an easy to answer: artificial grass! Playing fields with natural grass are the classics in grass sports and at the same time the benchmark for function and usage properties. All new developments must be measured against this in terms of their elasticity, play and rebound behavior and the absorption of mechanical forces. Equally important are good shear strength and a stable turf cover.
We as Reform Spor build artificial grass football pitches in accordance with the DIN standard, with an efficient drainage system, an overlying drainage layer and a final turf-bearing layer with fine subgrade. On request, we can install automatic sprinkler systems with pop-up sprinklers, and turf heating is mandatory in NBAstadiums.
We carry out the synthetic lawn cover in two variants:
- Sow on the fine level with a fast-germinating/rooting lawn mixture
- Laying of rolled turf as thick sod
- (thickness approx. 30-45 mm)
Our scope of services also includes completion maintenance and subsequent development maintenance – together with the responsible greenkeepers.
Hybrid lawn I
Hybrid turf is an artificial turf that is reinforced with durable synthetic fibers – on the entire pitch or in high-traffic areas such as the goal area and the 16-metre box.
In this system, the lawn consists of 90% artificial grass and 10% natural fibers that are fixed in a synthetic mesh. This hybrid lawn mat is laid on the fine subgrade and a coordinated substructure and sown at the same time. As the mat grows, it bonds to the bottom layer of grass, creating a much more stable turf. The effect: torn chunks of grass are a thing of the past, clubs achieve more usable game units per day and a longer period of use overall. For the players, the pitch feels like natural grass, without the risk of being burned when it is dry like artificial grass pitches.
The advantages:
- 30% more resilient than natural grass, resulting in higher usable capacity
- Lower construction costs than artificial grass
- Easy maintenance, natural grass machines can be used
- Longevity, improved optics in winter
Hybrid lawn II
This hybrid turf system has long been used successfully by clubs in the English Premier League. Here, we as one of the most succesfull football stadium construction companies a ready-made turf is laid as a 2 cm thick thin sod on a layer structure designed for hybrid turf. Millions of approx. 20 cm long plastic fibers are then implanted in this natural grass bed with a large special machine. Alternatively, it can also be implanted directly into the turf base layer and then the playing field can be sown normally.
The advantages:
- Twice the usable capacity compared to natural grass
- Shorter recovery periods than natural grass
- Suitable for many lawn sports with high mechanical loads
- Easy maintenance, natural grass machines can be used
- Longevity, improved optics in winter
Hybrid lawn III
This hybrid turf system combines high stability and resilience with maximum performance for game and player. With this product, elastic additives are homogeneously mixed into the turf base layer using the latest mixing technology. The athlete plays on 100% natural grass feeling, but clearly feels the elasticity, increased shear strength and evenness.
Reinforcement of the turf base layer with fiber fibers protects the sports surface from excessive wear of the turf grass and injuries (divots). This leads to a closed game surface. The use of the product reinforcement makes it almost superfluous to replace small pieces of turf with a punch! As a result, the grass stock remains uniform and, above all, level.
The advantages:
- Increased utilization capacity, improved flatness
- Shorter recovery periods than natural grass
- Suitable for many lawn sports with high mechanical loads
- Care like natural grass
Artificial turf – ahead in many disciplines
Modern artificial turf systems are a good alternative to football stadiums and sport halls. Above all, artificial turf filled with rubber or sand offers optimal playing characteristics, good tread elasticity, neutral ball behavior and – last but not least – good protection for the players against injuries. Artificial turf pitches are also ideal for other sports, such as B. American football or field hockey. They are also recognized by the football associations FIFA and UEFA.
If artificial turf is chosen, the focus is often on the low follow-up costs. A large part of the ongoing lawn care is no longer necessary, since artificial turf is only brushed with special machines. This also makes such places interesting for publicly accessible or municipal sports facilities. However, even in the planning phase, saws require a large portion of specialist knowledge in order to avoid later surprises.
What is needed to build a stadium?
We provide advice right from the planning stage on football pitch construction details recommend the right covering and consistently monitor the implementation. Only if the entire system is precisely coordinated in terms of building physics will the playing surface come close to retaining the properties of a newly laid turf over its entire service life.
The advantages:
- Increased usage capacity
- Less maintenance effort
- Higher resilience
- Less mechanical wear
- Good playable in bad weather
- Longer lifetime
Properties of artificial grass for athletes:
- Healthy, forest floor-like surface with optimal tread resistance
- Elastic, yet handy and non-slip
- Gentle on joints and muscles, no risk of injury
- Ball behavior similar to sports turf pitches
- Can be used all year round – in any weather
- Benefits for the builder:
- Low construction costs, low care and maintenance costs
- No environmental impact
- Inexpensive relief for existing sports turf areas
- Additional benefits for the environment:
- Natural non-toxic building materials
- No polluted drainage water
