The construction of athletic tracks primarily uses tartan surfaces to prevent the risk of slipping or falling for athletes. Tartan surfaces are flexible sports flooring made of EPDM and SBR rubber layers.
Thanks to its structure, the tartan surface includes a layer of EPDM granules, providing water permeability, while the SBR granule layer enhances the elasticity of the track. Applied directly on-site, these tracks ensure optimal grip, allowing athletes to compete safely in all weather conditions, whether in hot or cold climates. This durable sports flooring provides a secure and long-lasting surface for intensive use.
The rubber surfaces produced by Reform Sports are designed in accordance with IAAF standards and international quality norms. With their anti-slip and elastic properties, they are perfectly suited for international competitions on synthetic surfaces and indoor sports floors. Our tartan surfaces maintain their performance for over 20 years without deterioration and are available in various models to meet all requirements and applications.
Floor Types Used in Athletics Track Construction:
Athletic tracks with polyurethane coating are built in compliance with the standards of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the technical standards of the European Union, as defined by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN).
Ideal for professional-level competitions, these athletic tracks allow events to be held without interruption, regardless of weather conditions. Thanks to their high durability, they enable the organization of outdoor sports events throughout the year, ensuring the continuous practice of athletics in all seasons.
Sandwich system athletic tracks are built in compliance with the standards of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the technical standards of the European Union, as defined by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN).
These athletic tracks consist of two main layers: a 10 cm asphalt base layer and an upper rubber-coated surface layer. The sandwich system is composed of multiple elements, including an EPDM layer, a polyurethane layer, an elastic layer, and a primer layer, providing a durable and high-performance structure.
Spray coating system athletic tracks are constructed in accordance with the standards of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the technical standards of the European Union, as defined by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN).
The spray coating system is an economical EPDM coating solution that features high impact absorption, easy application, and a textured surface finish. This system is applied in multiple layers using a spray machine, which coats an elastic rubber base layer of the desired thickness.
The base layer consists of SBR granules bonded with polyurethane binders. The surface layer is then covered with a polyurethane filling and fine EPDM granules, resulting in an enhanced, high-performance, and durable athletic track surface.
Tartan athletic tracks are built in compliance with the standards of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the technical standards of the European Union, as defined by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN). Tartan surfaces consist of two layers and are water permeable.
These tracks are flexible sports surfaces made from EPDM and SBR granules. Typically, the bottom layer consists of 8mm SBR rubber, while the top layer features 5mm EPDM rubber. These surfaces are installed by pouring and spreading hot rubber on-site.
With high wear resistance and strong shock absorption capacity, tartan athletic tracks provide long-lasting performance and can be used for many years without deterioration.
