Parquet floors are common for indoor basketball courts and common for international, professional matches but the disadvantage of parquet flooring is most expensive flooring and to be used for indoor basketball constructions.
Tartan and Polyurethane flooring also a common and preferred flooring for basketball pitches and mostly preferred for outdoor use due to its durability and lower cost comparing to parquet flooring.
Types of Basketball Court Ground
Different furnishing methods are available for Basketball courts. These 4 methods include tartan (a flexible sports floor that consists of two layers, infiltrating water), parquet (a type of wood coating), acrylic (a type of floor that is durable, hygienic, easy to clean, and can be easily repaired in a very short time) and polyurethane (a floor covering system with a smooth surface, semi-flexible, extremely easy to clean, crack-covering, matte or glossy top coat preferred).
Hardwood Floor Basketball Court
Parquet floor is the most commonly used floor type in indoor basketball courts thanks to its high quality, accompanied by an innovative design and a non-slip surface made of maple or oak. At this point, it is important to note that the parquet mentioned here is not the parquet used in homes.
In order to reduce the risk of injury and to make the ball bounce and slide easily, the parquet used in basketball courts goes through some processes, which in turn, gains a more elastic feature.
Acrylic Floor Basketball Court
Acrylic Floor Basketball Court is the basketball court type that is used in neighborhoods and schools for lower budget open areas. Acrylic flooring is preferred in different circumstances thanks to its easy to apply and low-cost features. Additionally, they have an elastic and non-slip structure which protects the players from injuries.
Tartan Floor Basketball Court
Tartan basketball court floors are the second most preferred floor types. They have a two-layer structure and durable feature which enable them to be used for many years. Furthermore, in view of their quality, it can be said that they have a flexible, impact-reducing, non-slip structure. There is still a small catch. Since they are difficult to apply, they may be costlier than the other types of coating.
Polyurethane Floor Basketball Court
Another type of coating preferred in basketball courts is the polyurethane type with a protective structure. It is applied to the concrete surfaces both indoors and outdoors. It is preferred in many basketball courts since it is one piece, non-slippery and hard to wear while it can offer several variety of colors.
